Studdy Buddy in Comparison

What is the general target audience?

The customers will most likely be students within the ages of 13 to 18 years old, generally high school students. Although, it should also appeal to adults, specifically parents and teachers; because using Study Buddy will allow parents or teachers to monitor the student’s study time.

What are the competitors of Studdy Buddy like?

As of March 23, 2014 there are approximately 1,185,734 apps in the Google Play Store, and over 250 of those apps are classified as study aid apps. Although I think the main competitors to Study Buddy will be a classified 100 apps. That is because although there are multiple study apps there are some that serve quite a large difference and then Study Buddy. The biggest competitors will be Study Checker and My Study Life because both of these apps are able to break down exactly to the point of showing graphs, tables, calendars, and calculations to how and what needs to be studied. Although, both apps seem to consist of multiple functions that may not even be of must use, as compared to Study Buddy it is simple and straight to the point.

Why is Studdy Buddy unique, in comparison to other similar mobile applications?

This product is unique because of its simplicity.  There are many types of apps that attempt to aid students studying and homework times, but most of  those apps entail so many different aspects to it that is almost makes it confusing to use. Although the many aspects could be helpful, but shouldn't the main goal to be to assist the students in knowing how much they studied and how they need to improve? Well Study Buddy does just that, the straightforward and simplicity of the app is what makes Study Buddy unique. Looking at the other types of Study App’s each of them are different in their own way and they serve their own function, however, the fact that there is an app that specifically tells you the type of improvement you need for your time management dealing with studying and homework in a straightforward and simplistic way is what is important. That is why Study Buddy is different and unique compared to the other apps in the market.

Why is Studdy Buddy a free mobile application? Will there be plans on adding a cost to Studdy Buddy?

Looking at research on how apps are sold, it seems that the most popular apps are apps that are generally free. From an android perspective it was found that in April of 2013 the average price paid for an app on any android device was only $0.06 cents (Flurry Analytics, Google Play. In terms of making a profit from the app, those who put free apps in the market tend to make money by having a free version of the app and a full paid version.  Also, another way for profit to be made is through marketing other mobile applications within their own app or having other types of advertisements. So the answer to this question is that, no there will not be a cost put on Studdy Buddy in the future!

What are the Future Plans for Studdy Buddy?

Currently the app only contains the functions of storing and calculating the percentage of the amount of study timed studied. However, hopefully in the future it would be nice to add a chart comparison of goal time versus time studied, such that the student would have a visual look to what they have accomplished and what needs to be accomplished. Moreover, currently the app only has a certain number of subjects to which can be entered into the app, however, in the future there will be an option to add as many subjects that are needed to match the student’s schedule.
Another goal for Study Buddy is to allow the mobile application to be more versatile, such that instead of having to remember to study and input the time studied for that day, there will be an alarm that can be present by the student to aid them as a reminder to study and input their completed time.
